Laurel
lives in Stratford with her husband Harold, their sons, Simon and Jacob,
and her mother Gladys. Laurel became interested in the string bass when
the orchestra teacher in the Danbury schools was on the public speaker
and said he would be glad to teach any student string instruments: the
violin, the viola, the cello, or the string bass. For Laurel it was
an immediate decision.
At
Danbury High School Laurel played the string bass in the band and the orchestra.
She was in the all-state competition in her senior year. A number
of years later Laurel went back to playing the string bass. She resumed
lessons and played with the UB Civic Orchestra and the SHU Community Orchestra.
Laurel's playing has improved thanks to her teacher Milton Biesiegel of
Trumbull.
Laurel
also plays the piano. Her mother and Jacob and Simon also enjoy playing
the piano. Harold enjoys listening and
encourages
Laurel to continue playing the string bass. |
