Flutist Sylvia Alexander is a new member of the Stratford Community Band
who joined at the suggestion of fellow flutist Stacey Severn, and because
she has fond memories of high school band concerts where she learned to appreciate
wind ensemble music .
Although a professional flutist in New York City for many years, Sylvia is
now a human rights attorney and works as Director of Development at Leeway
in New Haven, Connecticut’s only AIDS-dedicated skilled nursing facility.
After moving to New Haven from Manhattan, joining the band was one way to
get to know the area better. She has enjoyed the Band’s community concerts,
and admires conductor Steve Saunders and her fellow band members. |
